An 8-year-old had tragically died after crawling under a freight train just as ordered by her mother who is now facing child neglect charges according to authorities.

The California mother, Joy Frances Collins, 44, was arrested on Monday after she allegedly told the victim, Joyanna Harris, and her 9-year-old brother to crawl under the Burlington Northern Santa Fe freight train to catch the bus on the other side of the tracks.

It was around 6 p.m. when the family's path to the bus was blocked by a one-mile long train that stopped for about 12 seconds. The boy crawled successfully underneath a railcar, but the girl was reluctant. When the mother encouraged her, the victim tried too to reach her brother. But the train lurched forward. She died from her injuries after she was pulled 500 feet.
