A Louisville boy has now a 50 percent chance of survival from the injuries he sustained after he was beating unconscious by his father following an argument, according to police.

Joshua Dossey, 39, has been charged with second-degree assault after knocking his minor son unconscious during an argument in their Louisville home on Friday.

The father told authorities his son had spat on him and hit him before he punched him in the face causing him a ruptured spleen. The boy's grandmother, who called police, said she went upstairs to find the bloodied victim lying on the floor as Dossey stood over him.

Dossey was arrested and booked at Metro Corrections Saturday around 8:30 p.m. on a $250,000 bond. His arraignment is scheduled for Monday.
