Dallas news, Texas news.

A Texas boy remains in a serious condition after his older brother had accidentally opened fire at him while he was playing with their parents’ handgun late Friday night, authorities said.

The incident took place at a house in the 1800 block of Stella Avenue. The boys’ mother left them with an 18-year-old relative and went to the store. Her 11-year-old son entered the bedroom and began playing with a gun he found hidden in the closet drawer. Suddenly, the weapon went off and a bullet ricocheted off the ground striking his 5-year-old brother who was playing nearby in his back, according to witnesses.

“He was crying. He was begging for help,” neighbor Adolfo Sanchez told reporters.

It was not determined which parent was the owner of the handgun. Meanwhile, none of them has been arrested.
