An abusive father had been arrested in Milwaukee following a tragic incident witnessed by young children when he doused their mother in gasoline and set her on fire.
23-year-old Savanna Bailey has sustained severe burns on 60% of her body and is currently sedated at a hospital after the February 14 incident when her children’s father lit her on fire after forcing her two toddlers, ages 4 and 1, outside the home near 8th and Cherry streets.
The children’s grandmother who is caring for them currently said that the elder daughter recalls the event: “I said Cerenity, who burnt the house up?” she asked. “My daddy did,” the toddler replied.
The 26-year-old father has been arrested. Family relatives described him as controlling and abusive.
