A Richmond man has turned himself in to police after a fatal hit-and-run incident that cost the life of a 4-year-old boy on Friday, police said.
According to local news outlets, Terrell O. Richardson, 26-year-old, will face criminal charges in connection with the death of Heitor Carreiro. The man surrendered on Sunday and admitted to the crime. He also turned his blue Ford Explorer to authorities.
The toddler had just stepped out of his family car when he was hit in the corner. His parents and sister witnessed the tragic incident: “He didn’t help, he ran away,” the distraught mother said. “I saw my son on the floor. You took an innocent life. If you stopped to help, he could be with me now, alive.”
