A Philadelphia man was taken into custody after he fatally shot his father and brother amid a heated argument in the basement of their home early Tuesday morning.
At around 12:30 a.m., police received an emergency call reporting a shooting in the home located on the 2000 block of East Walnut Lane. Once inside, they found a man sitting in a chair who told them that he killed his 83-year-old dad and his brother, 59, after they began disputing. He was arrested without incident.
The unidentified victims died shortly after the police arrived. At this time, the motive of the shooting remains unclear.
Detectives recovered multiples weapons from the residence.
“We don’t know if there is mental illness involved or argument, but the scene is confined to the basement,” Capt. Lee Strollo said.
