California authorities are investigating a disturbing incident that occurred inside a hospital room where an elderly man was beaten to death by his roommate.
73-year-old Francisco Sanchez-Reyes went to a hospital on Jan. 31 for an infection when he was attacked by his hospital roommate, identified as 37-year-old Reginald Daniel Panthier. The man sustained several injuries including severe brain bleeding, fell into a coma and later died.
The victim had eight children, 24 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren: “He came here from Mexico to give us more opportunity and a better life,” the victim’s son said. “He was the one that taught me about work ethic, respect and being a good human being.”
Panthier was arrested and is facing upgraded charges as the investigation continues.
