An Uber driver used a translator app to demand money from a customer while threatening him by a pocketknife, police said.
The 41-year-old Uber driver set up a meeting with the 28-year-old customer who had forgotten his cell phone in the man's black 2004 Honda Odyssey earlier. But when they met early Sunday on the 4900 block of Potomac Avenue, the driver pulled out a knife and asked for cash using a translator application. The victim wasn't hurt as he complied with the driver's orders, according to police.
The driver reportedly hopped into his minivan and fled. No arrests have been made by St. Louis police.
Uber's representatives said the driver has since been disabled from accessing to its platform.
