Driver arrested while carrying 100,000 tablets of Fentanyl on US 59

Texas authorities announced that they have arrested a man who was traveling on US 59 while carrying nearly 100,000 tablets of illicit Fentanyl.

The operation was conducted by the Fort Bend County Narcotics Task Force on Sunday. 37-year-old Jose Alejandro Olivares was arrested amid a traffic stop North of Kendleton.

After searching the vehicle, the police officers found 10 bundles containing approximately 10,000 tablets of Fentanyl concealed in an aftermarket compartment, the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office said.

The seizure has a street value of $100,000. Olivares, of Nuevo Leon, Mexico, has been charged with manufacturing/ delivery of a controlled substance and unlawful use of a criminal instrument. He is currently being held at Fort Bend County Jail.
