NYC woman dies after jumping in front of oncoming Bronx train

New York City police announced the death of a 31-year-old woman who jumped in front of an oncoming train on Tuesday.

Authorities said that the Woodlawn-bound train was heading toward the elevated Mount Eden station on Jerome Avenue, Highbridge when the woman, who has not been identified, leaped onto the tracks at around 11:15 p.m.

The impact of the crash was gruesome as police described parts of the victim's body falling from the tracks onto the sidewalk below the elevated subway. The woman died at the scene.

The MTA operator told investigators that he couldn't stop the rumbling train in time. The investigation continues to identify the victim and notify her family and relatives.
