A New York woman has been arrested, and now awaits trial for allegedly giving methadone to a 3-month-old baby boy in order to make him sleep.

Magan Michelle McDermott has pleaded not guilty to multiple charges, after using the methadone to make the child sleep. Police believe the infant stopped breathing for up to 14 minutes.

Officials responded to a call reporting about an infant who is unconscious and not breathing at the suspect's sister home. Paramedics were informed McDermott had given the child the drug, and were able to resuscitate him with an anti-overdose drug. The baby reportedly woke and started crying.

The child's custodian apparently brought him to visit the woman. He reportedly attempted to perform CPR when the boy stopped breathing.
