Franklin news, Tennessee news.

Authorities in Tennessee are investigating what led a mother to shoot her 12-year-old "happy and upbeat" son to death before committing suicide on Tuesday.

Rachel Narancich, 43, and her son Asher Narancich, 12, were found dead at their Franklin home by a family member at around 5:30 p.m. Lieutenant Charles Warner said during a press brief that when police arrived "there was nothing that could be done to save either of the people at that point."

The Davidson County Medical Examiner announced that the mother shot her son before turning the gun on herself.

"Asher had only been a student in our school for a short time, but he was a kind young man who was well-liked by his teachers and peers," Page Middle School Principal said. "Asher always had a smile on his face and was happy and upbeat."
