Montgomery news, Alabama news.

An Alabama man has been charged with leaving a 6-year-old girl unattended in a cold car back in 2016 as he went to work.

Zachary Hines, now 26-year-old, had reportedly left the child alone on Valentine's Day 2016 as he went to work at the Wind Creek Casino shortly after midnight.

Investigators said that the temperatures that night reached 34 degrees. The girl was spotted by a casino patron who reported the incident to a police officer.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Hines days after the events but it wasn't served until Wednesday. It remains unclear what caused the 4-year delay.

Hines has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child. The relationship between the child and Hines was not determined.
