Montana husband found guilty of killing wife, injuring roommate

A Montana husband has been convicted of murdering his estranged wife and injuring her roommate in 2018 amid a domestic dispute.

A Gallatin County jury found Joseph "Paul" DeWise guilty of deliberate homicide and attempted deliberate homicide in connection with the January 2018 incident.

Lauren Walder DeWise was shot dead and her roommate Ashley Van Hemert was injured when the suspect could track his wife's phone and car.

Joe DeWise, 17, said that he discarded the weapon in a local pond as ordered by his dad while Natalie DeWise, 19, testified that her father confessed to the crime the next morning as he woke her up to go to church.

The sentencing hearing was scheduled for February. 4.
