A Long Island teen has been arrested shortly after he fatally attacked his mother with a knife amid an argument early on Sunday morning.
Akcel Arriaza, 19, was sitting with his mother, 46-year-old Dora Villatoro-Arriaza, in a parked car outside their Adams Avenue home when they got into an argument at around 6 a.m.
Arriaza fatally stabbed his mother who was pronounced dead at the scene. He turned himself in to police as they responded to the incident following a call from his sister.
Police said that Arriaza's father and three siblings were home at the time of the incident but were not hurt.
Arriaza was charged with second-degree murder. Investigators did not disclose a motive for the stabbing.
