A man was shot dead while walking in downtown Los Angeles, authorities said. The case is still under investigation.
Officers responded to the 14th and Hill streets around 5:51 am to find the unconscious man on the sidewalk suffering a gunshot wound to the head, said LAPD captain Stacey Spell.
He was declared dead on the scene.
The investigators believe that the victim was walking alone in the area when a car passed and was shot, LAPD officer Rosario Cervantes said.
No description of the car or driver was available.
The authorities did not identify the victim and no further details were available.
Anyone with information is asked to come forward.
