Concert Stampede in Italy: 6 dead, dozens hurt

5years ago

Six people, five of them minors, were killed and about 35 others injured in a stampede of a concert audience in the small town of the Italian central Adriatic Coast, authorities said.

The dead victims included three girls and two boys, and an adult woman who had accompanied her daughter to the concert in Corinaldo, where an Italian rapper was entertaining the crowd when someone sprayed a substance similar to pepper spray. The panicked audience ran for exits. Witnesses claim the exits were locked as people tried to flee.

Twelve of the 35 injured people were in serious condition, their ages were not immediately given.

Authorities are reportedly investigating if the emergency exits were working.
