Police shot and wound gunman causing disturbance inside Fred Meyer Starbucks

Police shot and wound a gunman who was causing disturbance Friday night at a Northeast Portland Fred Meyer Starbucks.

Police said that around 5 p.m. they received a 911 call about the suspect who was yelling at the employees inside the Starbucks with a gun. When the employees hid in a back room, he reportedly tried to get inside it. Responding officers then opened fire at the suspect, as he came outside, he was injured but is expected to survive.

According to authorities, he is a 34-year-old man wanted on a federal warrant for escape. They are now investigating whether the gun was a real one or a replica.

The four police officers who opened fire were placed on leave which is standard procedure in police shootings.
