A man was shot by his brother while deer hunting. Police investigate the incident.

According to the authorities, two 28- and 29-year-old men from western Michigan were hunting in a field southeast of Grand Rapids, in Boston Township, Ionia County, when one of the men shot a deer around 5:30 pm According to a report from WOOD TV in Grand Rapids, the brothers went looking for a deer in a dense corn and separated.

The 29-year-old resident of Saranac, thinking he saw his brother, a 28-year-old resident of Lowell, shot his mouth-loading rifle again but hit his brother.

Police said the older man called 911 and helped his brother get out of the cornfield, where they were greeted by paramedics.

The brother who had been shot was in serious but stable condition.
