A Palo Alto city electrical worker has lost his life on Saturday while working on a transformer, according to the police.
The unidentified employee was one of a five-member crew from the city utilities working to upgrade an electrical transformer near East Meadow Drive and Middlefield Road. Authorities said that the incident occurred at 9:47 a.m.
The city's Fire Department transferred the man to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
"Our entire City family is saddened by the tragic loss of one of our own. Our condolences are with the family of our employees during this extremely difficult time," said Ed Shikada, the city manager. "This is a sad reminder of the risks involved in the critical functions that our utilities employees perform daily."
