The sentencing has taken place in a Nicaragua courtroom last Friday.

On November 1, Orlando Tercero was convicted of Killing 22-year-old Haley Anderson who the investigators confirmed she was strangled to death when she was asleep in Tercero's off-campus apartment, Broome County District Attorney Steve Cornwell told reporters.

After Tercero's sentencing, Cornwell said: "It doesn't get any more sick and depraved than that. Not only is he using his physical abilities, but praying on somebody who is helpless."
