Arkadelphia news, Arkansas news.

Two Arkansas chemistry professors were taken into custody on Friday, days after an investigation was launched into their suspicious activity at the Henderson State University lab.

Bradley Allen Rowland, aka "Heinsberg", 40, and Terry David Bateman, 45, were arrested on Nov. 15 as a result of an investigation that began with an "undetermined chemical odor" at the Reynolds Science Center where they worked.

The investigation revealed that benzyl chloride was discovered spilled on surfaces in the university lab. The substance is used to synthesize methamphetamine, police said.

The professors have been charged with manufacture of methamphetamine and the use of drug paraphernalia. Rowland was known to be a fan of the "Breaking Bad" series.
