San Quentin news, California news.

A 49-year-old man convicted of torturing and burning his victim died on California's death row.

Prison officials said Spencer Brasure was found alone in his cell at San Quentin State Prison shortly after midnight on Thursday.

Authorities are waiting for an autopsy to determine the cause of death, but say it does not appear to be a criminal act.

Brasure was sentenced to death in 1998 for kidnapping and torturing Anthony Guest, who was 20 years old and burned in 1996.

Guest has already worked as a child actor.

The court records show that Brasure and an accomplice kidnapped Guest because they thought he stole them and embarrassed a friend.

They tormented him for hours with a flashlight, electrocuted him with electricity and stuck his eyes before killing him.
