Delaware man sentenced in death of store clerk murdered for $20

A Delaware man who had pleaded guilty in the murder of a convenience store clerk in 2017 has been sentenced to 35 years behind bars.

25-year-old Devonte Dorsett has been ordered to spend 35 years in prison for the shooting death of 64-year-old Santanu Muhuri that was perpetrated with the help of a 14-year-old. He had pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, first-degree robbery, and weapons charges.

Dorsett and the teenage broke into the Lancaster Market and Dorsett pointed a gun and asked for cash. Muhuri resisted and was shot in the head while struggling with the pair. They reportedly left with $20.

The teen, now 16, has pleaded delinquent to the charges and is serving his sentence at a juvenile detention center.
