A pilot was killed after a single-engine plane crashed into a house in southern California, causing the house to fire on Thursday.

According to the San Bernardino County Fire Department, the small plane crashed into a house in Upland, California.

The plane was flying from Torrance Municipal Airport to Cable Airport in Upland, the agency added.

The pilot, who was the sole occupant of the aircraft, was killed in the accident, the authorities said. The identity of the driver has not been released yet.

A team of hazardous materials was requested at the scene.
