An Indiana school bus was hit by a truck Wednesday on the way to a Christmas musical, leading to the death of one student.

the truck hit the school bus from behind just after 9 a.m. on US 31 near Argos, about 30 miles south of South Bend.

a teenage male student was sitting in the back of the bus was killed; his name was not released.

other students were taken to a nearby hospital to get tend to, while another student was airlifted to tread non life-threatening injuries.

38 eighth-graders and three chaperones were heading to a Christmas musical in Warsaw, about 25 miles east of the crash site.

the school bus from Eastern Pulaski Community School Corporation had stopped at the tracks and was starting to move again when a truck towing a flatbed trailer struck the left rear of the bus.

a toxicology test was run on both drivers; a 26-year-old Camby man driving the truck and the 54-year-old Winamac woman driving the school bus, police are still waiting for the results.
