The family of a missing woman from Utah said police in California incorrectly described her disappearing as a volunteer.

Family members said Erin Valenti, CEO of Tinker Ventures, an application developer based in Salt Lake City, was last seen in Palo Alto, California.

Valenti's husband, Harrison Weinstein, wrote on Facebook that the telephone business suggested that Valenti was driving in San Jose. She never returned her rental car or took her flight home to Utah, and she had no telephone or credit card activity since Monday.

Valenti's family says that she seemed to have been upset the night she disappeared. Weinstein and Valenti's parents told the chain that they spoke to her on the phone on Monday and that she seemed manic, even though she does not have a history of mental illness.

Valenti is described as 5 feet 4 inches with blond hair. She was last seen wearing a white t-shirt and jeans.
