Los Angeles news, California news.

The California man accused of killing his disabled roommate with a hammer then concealing the body in the apartment's wall has received 11 years behind bars.

Randolph Garbutt has pleaded guilty in September to one count of felony voluntary manslaughter in connection with the murder of Raven Campbell who was bludgeoned to death with a hammer in 2009. Her remains were discovered in 2015 in the wall of the apartment where she lived after police received tips about where Garbutt hid her.

"To place her in a wall," Campbell's sister said. "The irony is this man will probably do about as much time as she was in that wall. That's the crime. The punishment is not just, but we're going to have to accept it."
