College student sentenced after admitting guilt in stabbing best friend 30 times

A Virginia college student has been sentenced to 20 years behind bars after she pleaded guilty to stabbing best friend 30 times.

Luisa Ines Tudela Harris Cutting, 21-year-old, told police that she was bingeing on various kinds of drugs, such as cocaine, mushrooms, Adderall, Xanax, and marijuana when she grabbed a knife and stabbed her best friend and roommate Alexa Cannon on Jan. 24.

During her sentencing hearing, Cutting apologized for the victim's family and offered a short statement: "There are no words for this tragedy and my heart is filled with sorrow and grief," she said.

A post from Cannon Facebook account reads: "So incredibly proud of my best friend Luisa Cutting for becoming Latinos Student Alliance's President! I know you're going to be amazing! Love you more!!"
