An 8-year-old girl in Nashville survived a violent knife attack Monday morning that killed her mother and brother and injured her older sister, according to reports.
Police identified the suspect as the mother's ex-boyfriend, Jermaine Agee, aged 38, charged with murder.
Alicia McKnight, a neighbor of the family, told The Tennessean that she had heard riots nearby and had looked outside to see the 8-year-old girl trying to cross the street. McKnight said she gestured to the girl to enter.
Police identified the victims as Mayra Garcia, 38, and her son, Jayden Taylor, 13. Alexis Taylor, her 16-year-old daughter, was taken to the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in critical condition.
Police found Agee about five kilometers from the family home and arrested him around 9 am, WSMV reported. The woman had issued a warrant and protection order against Agee for another incident last week, according to the channel.
