One dead and 40 injured in youth football team bus crash

One child was killed and 40 others were injured when a charter bus overturned in Arkansas early Monday morning, according to police.

The football team bus was traveling from Texas to Memphis, on Interstate 30 near Benton, Ark., at about 2:40 a.m. Arkansas state police said in a statement that the charter bus careened off the road and overturned while carrying the Orange Mound Youth League football team returning from an All-star game in Dallas, Texas. The team was heading to Memphis at the time of the crash.

The passengers aboard were reportedly all children between the ages of 8 and 12 years old. The bus driver is still alive, according to police and is being questioned by state troopers. The injured children were taken to hospitals in Little Rock.
