Decorated Navy admiral passed in an apparent suicide

Victim of an apparent suicide, a decorated navy admiral was found dead inside his home in the Middle East over the weekend.

Vice Adm. Scott Stearney commander of the Navy's 5th Fleet was found dead inside his Bahrain's home. Military officials said Saturday that they woudn't confirm if the admiral took his own life, however, other sources cited the "apparent suicide" talking to news outlets.

Adm. John Richardson described Stearney as a "devoted husband and father, a friend to all". Richardson said that his passing is "devastating news for the Stearney family, for the team at 5th Fleet, and for the entire US Navy."

The Chicago native joined the Navy in 1982, and has served as Joint Task Force 435 chief of staff in Afghanistan. He began overseeing operations in the Middle East back in May.
