British Columbia news, Canada news.

A Canadian father has been sentenced to life in prison for the triple murder of his family members that unfolded on December 17, 2017.

35-year-old Jacob Forman had killed his 33-year-old wife Clara Forman with a sledgehammer over his alcoholism. He then took his two daughters, ages 7 and 8-year-old, to the church only to strangle them to death using a toy in their bedrooms.

"He said to police, he thought it would be better for them to go home to heaven than to grow up in a world where daddy had killed mommy," prosecutor Murray Kaay said.

Forman had then spent the next two days contemplating suicide before he was arrested.

"This breach of trust of such young children, vulnerable and trusting of their father, was horrific," said Judge Allan Betton.
