Dover news, Delaware news.

Dion Williams, 27, is wanted for assault, dangerous endangerment and prosecution on firearms charges following a shootout on June 1 that killed Julius Johnson, an elderly man 31 years old.

Johnson died of his wounds on July 5, authorities said in a press release.

The Dover Police Department said Williams was arrested on Friday in connection with the shooting. On the same day Williams was taken to the County Court of Kent, where he was under an active arrest warrant. He was transferred to the Capitol Police Department and placed in a Georgetown Prison.

On Monday, an officer had learned that he had been released by accident after the cancellation of his mandate.

Dover's police statement states that Williams was released because of a "communication error committed by a Dover police officer", without giving further details. Williams's whereabouts have not been known since Tuesday night.
