Man arrested for murder at Exxon service station in Denbigh, deadly shooting at Phoebus section of Hampton.

A man arrested on Monday for a murder at an Exxon gas station in Denbigh. According to Hampton officers, 21-year-old Elijah Dayron Armstrong was responsible for a deadly shootout in their city just hours after the station's murder. He faces two counts of first degree murder and other charges.

The shooting at Exxon, located on Jefferson Avenue and Kate's Trace Circle, took place shortly after Monday at 11 am.

Newport News police said the deceased was Luis Eduardo Zambrana, Jr. of Newport News.

Shortly after, a shooting took place in the Phoebus section of Hampton. Police found Lamar French, 38, in a Phoebus high school car park. The doctors took the French to the hospital where he died.

Armstrong was at the Newport News City jail on Tuesday. He refused interview requests.
