Houston news, Texas news.

A 72-year-old man from Houston will spend twenty years behind bars for crushing his ex-girlfriend four times, prosecutors said on Monday.

72-year-old Rogelio Alberto Guardado of Houston has pleaded guilty to aggravated assault on a family member causing serious bodily harm, the Houston Chronicle reported, citing Harris County Attorney Kim Ogg. He will spend twenty years in prison

Guardado met a 41-year-old woman on September 11, 2016 after seeing him break his car tires in front of his apartment, Ogg said in a statement.

Ogg said that witnesses had tried to intervene and arrest Guardado. He fled the scene after crushing it a fourth time.

The woman's injuries put her in the hospital for months and made her dependent on a wheelchair for two years, Ogg said.

District Judge Hazel Jones sentenced Mr. Guardado to 20 years in prison as part of a plea agreement, KHOU reported.
