A woman was fatally hit by a vehicle in Grand Rapids on Saturday night.
A witness to the crash said that the woman walked into oncoming traffic. The incident occured near the intersection of South Division and Garden Street SE, at around 5:54 p.m. Police said the victim was a middle aged white woman. She was lying unconscious in the street when they arrived. She died moments later.
According to authorities, the 33-year-old driver and his passenger remained on scene and cooperated with police. There is a suspision of another vehicle involved, striking the victim again.
The roadway was closed as emergency crews worked to clear the scene, and police investigated the area. Authorities say that alcohol and speed were not factors in this incident.
