A troubled man is charged after causing fear inside the Empire State Building.
According to the authorities, the suspect was on the iconic Midtown Building observation platform when he took out the deadly weapon and threatened to hurt himself around 4 pm Friday.
NYPD officials later released a surveillance video of the incident, saying the man had slipped a cane sword into the building. The cameras captured the man who seemed to point the blade at his chest before a swarm of officers surrounded him.
Police said the 30-year-old man had not pointed the other's sword at or threatened other people inside the Empire State Building.
Officers were able to arrest the man safely and then took him to Bellevue Hospital for an assessment.
