Mom fakes daughter's death and held memorial to scam grieving friends and family

A Missouri woman was shocked and saddened when she found out that her mother had faked her death to scam relatives and friends into organizing a memorial.

Brittany Johnson-Webster, 21, believes her estranged mother was motivated by greed when she told everyone that her daughter had tragically died in a car accident on October 27. The mother took donations and held a poignant memorial service just three hours away from where the still-alive daughter lives with her grandparents.

Even the church which hosted the memorial had no idea it was for someone who was still alive.

Johnson-Webster doesn't know where her mother, a drug-addict, is currently. She was reportedly most hurt by the fact that her brother really died and that now her mother is faking her death.
