Massachusetts man who tried to rescue two people in Lake Tahoe, found dead.

Authorities said a Massachusetts man drowned after trying to save two people in Lake Tahoe on Sunday afternoon.

Sayen Sengupta, a 27-year-old Boston resident, was driving a rental boat carrying 13 people near the Dollar Point jetty around 5 pm. On Saturday, the Placer County Sheriff's Office said.

Two passengers fell into the water, said the sheriff's office. Sengupta dipped after them, slipped underwater and never surfaced again.

A rescue team searched for Sengupta using an underwater sonar and a remote-controlled vehicle. His body was found around 15:45. Sunday, depending on the station.

The sheriff's office said the two people Sengupta was trying to save made it to safety.
