The family of the man killed by concrete chunk offers a $5K reward for more useful information.

54-year-old Joe C. Shelton Jr. of Pleasant View was killed Nov. 20 while he was driving on Interstate 24 near downtown Nashville. He was traveling to his job at a Nissan plant in Smyrna.

A 23-pound chunk of concrete went through his windshield.

Police said the family is offering $5,000 for information leading to arrest and conviction in an adult court of the person responsible for Shelton’s death if it was a criminal act. Crime Stoppers is also offering up to $1,000.

according to the Tennessee Transportation Department bridge inspectors, the concrete was not part of the nearby Shelby Avenue Bridge.

the chunk of concrete is still being analyzed so as to find out where it came from.
