Long Beach news, California news.

A California police service calls a "tragic accident" the death of an off-duty K-9, left alone in a hot car.

The Long Beach Police Service officer who worked with Ozzy found the dead dog ten days ago in the middle of the afternoon. AccuWeather reports that the maximum temperature in Long Beach was 89 degrees.

Ozzy died in a K-9 vehicle equipped with a high-tech heat alert system, according to the press release.

The system triggers an alarm when the vehicle becomes too hot.

The ministry is now asking K-9 managers to check the alert system before each shift.
