Boynton Beach news, Florida news.

An incident occurred on a major communication lane in Boynton Beach after a 12-year-old boy got off a school bus and agreed to pick up a man's car from a van. The man wanted to kidnap the boy but the boy managed to escape by jumping out of the vehicle, the police said.

The boy had abrasions on his forehead, arms and hands, the police said.

Timothy Miller, 26, has been charged with kidnapping, resisting arrest and neglect of a child.

He was sentenced to jail without bail on Thursday after a man told the court he knew Miller had just graduated and had a drug problem, the Palm Beach Post reported.

The boy said that once in the van, Miller had asked him for drugs, looked at him strangely and started driving erratically, the report said. He told the investigators that Miller's behavior frightened him.

When the boy tried to go out, however, Miller told him he could not leave and accelerated, the report said.

Miller told the police that he had approached the boy to buy drugs, the report said.
