Mother arrested after death of 2-year-old son

A Wichita woman has been arrested after she allegedly killed her 2-year-old son on May 31.

Kimberly Compass, 23-year-old, has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of Zayden JayNesahkluah who was found dead at a Wichita motel. The cause of the boy's death has not been disclosed.

Criminal files say that Compass killed the boy while committing another felony of aggravated child endangerment.

The mother is currently behind bars on $500,000 bond for the murder charges and a $1 million bond for a probation violation. She is slated to stand before a judge on Sept. 5.

The case is the ninth suspicious death of a toddler younger than 5 years of age in the Wichita area since 2017.
