A jury on Monday sentenced Maxwell Hare and John Kinsman, two members of the far-right Proud Boys, as part of the October 2018 fight with members of the poorly organized anti-fascist group known as Antifa. Both were convicted on several counts, including attempted gangsterism.
Hare and Kinsman's lawyers said the two men acted in self-defense, but prosecutors said they and other Proud Boys had started the fight.
Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. said the defendants beat four people "for brutal political violence".
A Kinsman lawyer said he had no comment on the convictions.
