Dallas news, Texas news.

According to the police, a "diss track" led to a shootout Wednesday in the wrong apartment in Texas, resulting in the death of a 9-year-old girl instead of the target.

Police said 19-year-old Tyrese Simmons was charged with a murder charge related to the shooting that killed nine-year-old Brandoniya Bennett on Wednesday. Simmons is currently waiting at the Dallas County Jail for a $ 500,000 bail starting Monday morning.

Bennett was killed while sitting on a couch in her family's apartment at Roseland Townhomes in Dallas.

Witnesses told the police that they had broken the argument before Simmons told the other man that he would return to "ventilate this place".

Simmons then returned and opened fire on Brandoniya Bennett's apartment, hitting the 9-year-old girl, police said.

One of the bullets "struck [Brandoniya] on his head, causing his death," the document says.

Dallas police said the two men involved in the initial confrontation are gang members.
