Daytona Beach news, Florida news.

According to a local sheriff's office, the investigators were alerted by text messages in which a man would have detailed his intention to "pull as many people as possible into a large crowd". Tristan Scott Wix, 25, of Daytona Beach, was arrested and charged with threatening large scale shootings.

In a text, he said he wanted his shot beats a world record.

Investigators found Wix Friday in a supermarket parking lot at Daytona Beach Shores, where they arrested him, according to the sheriff's office.

In an interview, Wix told the detectives that he had no firearms but was fascinated by the mass shootings, the bureau added.

The sheriff's detectives were in the process of obtaining a search warrant for Wix's home on Friday, officials said in the Facebook article.

Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood congratulated Wix's ex-girlfriend for alerting MPs.

Wix was held without bail in the prison of the Volusia County Branch.
