Fort Lauderdale news, Florida news.

Florida authorities said that a woman had forgotten her toddler inside a hot car as she went shopping in the middle of the day.

32-year-old Shantrell Mitchell was arrested on one count of aggravated child abuse. The mother had locked the car's door manually and left the girl strapped to a car seat for three hours while she went to a grocery for shopping. According to authorities, the temperatures reached the 90s at the time of the incident.

The girl suffered from febrile seizures and had to be hospitalized despite the mother's efforts to cool the infant down. A grocery employee called the police.

It is unclear if the mother had posted a bond or released from police custody.
