An angry Texas amateur rapper has fatally shot a 9-year-old girl while targeting the wrong home after feeling upset by a rival's lyrics.
The shooting started while Brandoniya Bennett, a fourth-grade student, was preparing for her first day of school by getting her nails done and going to sleep before Tyrese Simmons, 19-year-old, fatally opened fire at her house that he mistook for that of his rival.
According to Dallas authorities, the shooter and his apparent target "considered themselves rappers and used social media to disparage the other. In their rap songs, they dis each other."
On August 14, Simmons surrendered to police and was booked into the Dallas County Jail. His is facing capital murder charges and could receive the death penalty sentence if convicted.
