A police officer was killed while two others were injured among several motorists that were hit during a wild shooting that occurred in Riverside on Monday.
The slain officer, Andre Moye, 34, was conducting a traffic stop when he decided to impound the gunman's pickup truck for an unknown reason. The suspect then grabbed a rifle and started shooting at the officer as he filled the paperwork and at motorists hitting several people at the scene.
"I am devastated by the tragedy that unfolded earlier in Riverside," said CHP Commissioner Warren Stanley in a tweet. "Tonight, I mourn the loss of one of our own CHP officer Andre Moye who was killed during a shootout following a traffic stop."
The gunman was killed by responding officers. His identity wasn't immediately made public.
